A flood of firefighters are coming back to Owensboro this month for an annual officer school and convention that attracts people from across the country.
The Bryant Stiles Officers School, hosted by the Green River Firefighters Association, will return to the Owensboro Convention Center on Feb. 23-Feb. 25.
Dwane Smeathers, Daviess County fire chief and president of the association, said about 900 attendees from eight states are expected over the course of the weekend.
"This is the biggest fire school and convention in Kentucky, but it attracts people from all over," Smeathers said.
Firefighters will be able to attend 30 classes and sessions about different aspects of fire service, but there will also be a vendor's show from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 24.
