Glasgow Fire Department's ladder truck is 19 years old and has racked up average annual maintenance costs of $5,700 for the past three years, Chief Bryan Marr said. “It's starting to get to that end-of-life as a first response truck, just because of the amount of wear and tear on it,” he said, “and how much it costs to get things fixed.”
It's becoming increasingly difficult to find replacement parts for it because of its age, and because they are so few and far between, the cost is much higher, he said, and it's not entirely reliable for emergency responses.
