The London City Council discussed some possible big changes to streets at Monday night’s regularly scheduled meeting.
First, council members discussed the possibility of a new ordinance that would require house numbers to be displayed on every house, rather than just on a mailbox.
This was brought to the attention of council members by Laurel County dispatch workers who find it increasingly difficult to send out ambulances to homes that have no numbers.
Doug Gilbert, London Building Inspector, said that with construction of new developments and subdivisions, post offices are putting in blocks of mailboxes at the end of a street, to make it easier for them to drop off all the mail at once without having to go to individual homes.
