A fire that gutted a home Thursday on Blue Level Providence Road began when a man set fire to a blanket that had been hanging in a doorway and told his girlfriend she could “just stay in there and burn,” according to an arrest citation. John Cox, 40, is charged with first-degree arson, fourth-degree domestic assault, violation of a Kentucky DVO/EPO and third-degree criminal mischief, according to his arrest citation. Amy Garrison told Warren County sheriff’s deputies that Cox intentionally set fire to the home after the two had been arguing for several days, during which time Cox was verbally and physically abusive to her, according to his citation.
