Fire Chief Kevin Jant spoke to the council about the department’s need for new radios. The bid Jant gave to the council was for twenty new radios and a new duplexer and repeater coming in at a little over $32,000. While the duplexer and repeater will give the department their own radio frequency, is not a necessity. With the promotional prices on the handheld and mobile radios set to expire at the end of this month, Jant noted the cost would nearly double if they were to pay full price. The council’s finance committee will get with Jant and make the final decision.
