A man and his dog are lucky to be alive after falling into an iced-over pond off Cynthiana Road in Scott County. Officials say the dog got stuck on the ice Monday morning. The dog's owner, Don Dyer, used a boat to get to the dog, but the boat sank, trapping Dyer and his dog in the cold water. The fire department says a firefighter in a dry suit was able to rescue Dyer, then an inflatable boat was used to rescue the dog and bring it to safety. Officials say both Dyer and the dog were cold, but in good shape. Dyer did not have to be taken to the hospital.
