The busy men and women of the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department just got a little more efficient, thanks to a grant from the Kentucky Fire Commission and State Fire Rescue.
The department was recently awarded a $3,200 grant to purchase a thermal imaging camera. Fire/EMS Administrator Michael Workman said the department applied for it in October.
While Workman said the department has some older varities of this camera, the technology gets better every year. According to a department news release, the camera will allow them to more quickly find trapped victims by their heat signatures, look for electrical hotspots, help in the location of missing persons and detect hidden fires in walls or attics.
