Two firefighters were injured as they battled a structure fire today in Owensboro. When firefighters arrived at Owensboro Gym and Fitness on Alvey Park Drive at approximately 11 a.m., they faced heavy dark smoke. “Large flames were visible upon entry into the building.” said Daviess County Fire Department Lt. Trason Campbell. “Firefighters knocked down the flames within 3 minutes of arriving on scene.” Firefighters performed overhaul to ensure the fire was completely extinguished including removing siding from the rear exterior wall.
