Richmond fire trucks raced to Big Hill Avenue Tuesday morning after receiving a call that the building containing Bluegrass Barrel House and Bernie’s Custom Cycles was on fire.
A relative of building owner Bernie Brumagen, Lisa Ray, said the owner pulled up to the businesses Tuesday morning and saw the building's attic was on fire.
Richmond Fire Department received reports of smoke at 9:45 a.m. and worked the scene for nearly three hours.
The building, according to Cory Lewis, RFD public information officer, is older and has various divisions, roofs and areas from previous additions. This, he said, posed a challenge to firefighters attempting to locate the source of the fire.
