Early Saturday morning fire crews responded to a large house fire on Boone Trail Road. Neighbors across the street say they woke up to the flames.
"We woke up this morning about 5:45 to our one-year-old crying," said Bart Kelly. "All the red lights were coming through our windows, so we got up to see what was going on. We saw the smoke, the fire engines, and the fire department here."
Firefighters battled the fire for about 45 minutes.
They say an elderly man was in the house at the time. He was transported to Ephraim McDowell Hospital for evaluation.
"We were worried about Mr. Scott who lives there, just a nice older gentleman who lives in the neighborhood," said Kelly.
