Attorney General Andy Beshear spent Monday meeting with retired state employees to discuss the ongoing lawsuit regarding the state’s pension reform.
In the ongoing battle since the state legislature passed the controversial pension reform bill, Franklin County Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd recently ruled it void, citing the process by which it was passed was illegal.
Beshear had filed the lawsuit that prompted Judge Shepherd’s ruling. Today he updated public employees on the status of the litigation.
While a lot of focus during this battle has been on Kentucky’s educators, many in attendance today retired from various government entities. They say they’re taking an interest in this, not necessarily for themselves, but for the future of the state.
