Madisonville Fire Department has a new facility in place behind Station No. 4 off Hanson Road that will provide local training for area firefighters.
American Fire Training Systems workers out of Lockport, Illinois, were busy getting the sections in place this week during all the rainy weather.
The fire training facility, made of steel shipping crates, has multiple areas including one with a furnace, called the “fire room” that will hold wood pallets or other combustible materials. The building can be expanded by adding another steel shipping crate.
The facility, which has no electrical supply for good reason, smells new, but will soon smell like smoke.
