Louisville setup crews hung and strung lights Monday morning for the city's annual Light Up Louisville event at Jefferson Square Park. But the future of the park will come with another change as the city considers a brighter future at the corner of Sixth and Jefferson Streets. Planners from Develop Louisville are working on the "Jefferson Resquared" project. Among the improvements for the one-acre park are a memorial wall and garden dedicated to police, fire and EMS workers who died in the line of duty, a reflection canopy atop, a water/fountain feature and more green space. "There's a lot of different locations here that make it a great location for a civic space, and so that's what we're really trying to do, is turn it into civic gathering space for the community," Develop Louisville Advanced Planning Director Gretchen Milliken said.
