The Metcalfe County Volunteer Fire Department notified the Edmonton City Council via letter that it “respectfully declines” a request from the city council to pay half the fire station's utilities.
In addition to the letter, Horace Robinson, chairman of the Metcalfe County Volunteer Fire Department's board of directors, addressed the city council about the matter at its Monday night meeting, and again he told the city council that the Metcalfe County Volunteer Fire Department declines the city council's request to pay half the fire station's utilities.
“It has always been an agreement that the city provides the housing for both departments, and to also pay the utilities,” Robinson said.
The Edmonton Volunteer Fire Department operates from the same fire station as the Metcalfe County Volunteer Fire Department.
