Three people were hurt after a fire in the Beechmont neighborhood not far from Churchill Downs. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Thursday at a home on Navaho Place near Stanley Avenue. Firefighters said two adults are badly hurt. One is in serious condition, and the other is in critical condition. A child was also hurt, but fire crews aren't sure of the extent of his or her injuries. Officials said the fire started in a utility room. A neighbor heard cries for help put the flames out with a fire extinguisher.
