The Corbin Fire Department is looking to purchase a new firetruck.
“We’ve been talking about this for several months now,” said Corbin Fire Battalion Chief Jack Partin.
On Monday, the Corbin City Commission met for a regular work session, where Partin and Fire Chief Barry McDonald pleaded their case for the Corbin Fire Department to move forward with the purchase of a new firetruck.
Partin, who has helped to sell and purchase several firetrucks, said the truck the fire department is currently looking at is one that “seems to suit everything that we might need.”
All in all, Partin said the truck would cost the city approximately $650,000 — but no more than that.
Partin said the truck had a generator, a phone system and the truck would carry 350 gallons of water more than the truck the fire department currently uses.
“At the end of the day, we have a truck that is just about worn out,” he said.
He also mentioned that the truck the fire department currently uses is 20 years old and is constantly needing repairs.
