All lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway are open following a vehicle fire near the Kentucky River in Woodford County. A driver of a semi truck noticed some smoke coming out of the trailer 10 p.m. Monday. The driver pulled over and noticed the trailer was on fire. The driver stopped under the Scotts Ferry Road overpass and disconnected the trailer from the tractor. Drew Chandler, with Woodford County Emergency Management, says the semi was carrying chromium oxide, which is used in manufacturing processes as a pigmentation element. It is not hazardous and will end up in a landfill. Westbound lanes of the Bluegrass Parkway were shut down for about an hour after the incident. Eastbound lanes were shut down throughout most of Tuesday morning. Drivers had to take detours as a result of the closures. The Scotts Ferry Road overpass was also closed so a state bridge inspector could determine whether it's structurally sound.
