His day job is assistant principal of LaRue County High School. But on Thursday night, Eric Allen's job was very different.
Wrapped in multiple T-shirts and a hoodie, with a protective mask on his face and a gun with non-lethal ammo in his hand, Allen played the role of pretend active shooter in a drill. He was surrounded by law enforcement in the school's cafeteria.
"I knew this was happening, and they contacted me last night about being the bad guy and maybe taking a few of the simulated rounds," Allen said with a smile.
The first time around, Allen, grasping a blue gun, hid down a hallway upstairs. A team of two officers, both carrying blue rifles, entered the school's front door and used tactics to clear classrooms and hallways.
