VIDEO: A fire at Xpress Recycling on Thursday morning was part of a training exercise. Video shows multiple firefighters fighting flames from vehicles on Xpress Recycling’s property. The facility’s manager told KALB that Xpress Recycling donated the vehicles and the space for the Alexandria Fire Department to train as a way to help the community. Rapides Fire District 2 also confirmed that this was a training exercise. News Channel 5 originally reported the fire after witnessing it and speaking to neighbors living along Mill Street. Several residents had come out of their homes to see why there was a large amount of smoke nearby.
