Fire Chief Gregory Gagnon has resigned following long-term leave that began in September after he was arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot his wife. In his place, retired Chelmsford fire Chief Jack Parow will serve as interim chief part-time to the tune of $1,400 a week, Town Manager Robin Crosbie said during Monday night's Board of Selectmen meeting. The town plans to retain Parow until Sept. 30, which should give the town enough time to choose a new chief. "He is a known commodity," said selectmen Chairman William Craft during the meeting, noting Parow helped to fill the gap between permanent chiefs before for the town.
