After 29 years of service to the town, Deputy Fire Chief Kenneth May has achieved his goal of leading the fire department. On Wednesday, the board of selectmen named Deputy Fire Chief Kenneth May as the West Bridgewater Fire Department’s next fire chief. “Since I started here, this was my goal: to stay right here and work my way all the way up to the top,” said May, who is a long-time West Bridgewater resident. May will succeed current Fire Chief Len Hunt, following Hunt’s retirement on Jan. 1, 2018. Chief Hunt has served the community as fire chief for 28 years. After interviewing May and the other prospective candidate for the position, current Wareham Assistant Fire Chief Patrick Haskell, Selectmen unanimously moved to name May the next fire chief.
