A Waste Management vehicle burst into flames on a residential street Tuesday morning, blowing out windows of nearby homes and spreading to two parked vehicles.
No one was injured. District Fire Chief Ambrose Smith said a 911 call came in at 9:11 a.m. reporting the Waste Management truck caught fire on the corner of Hunter and William streets.
Three engines and a ladder truck were dispatched to the scene. The truck, powered by natural gas, was fully engulfed when first responders arrived, Smith said.
A silver sedan parked on the side of the road was completely burned out. Its owner, who identified herself only as Jade, said though her car was destroyed she was grateful no one was inside.
