Months after a study found relocating the Pinehurst fire station could improve response times, officials have soured on the idea.
"It just doesn't seem that (moving) would be a worthwhile return on investment," Town Manager John Curran said.
Curran proposed the station should be replaced, but remain at its current location on 832 Boston Road. The suggestion was met with a positive response at a Board of Selectmen meeting last week.
The station's current location near the Burlington border places a significant portion of its optimal response time, four minutes and under, in the other town. Meanwhile a sliver of land along Boston Road in Billerica has an above optimal response time, between four and five minutes.
