The recently formed Bourne South Side Fire Station Feasibility and Design Building Committee has moved quickly toward zeroing in on a possible location for the town’s new fire station. In only the group’s second meeting, members have focused their attention on land along County Road in Pocasset that was part of the old Barnstable County Hospital complex. Bourne Fire Chief Norman P. Sylvester told the committee that the county owns 17 acres there and is willing to give a portion of it to the town—absolutely free. “I talked to the county and they’re willing to give us 5.173 acres,” he told fellow committee members during their meeting Wednesday, February 21, at the Sagamore Fire Station. The acres are at the entrance to Cape Cod Senior Residences and straddle Dr. Julius Kelley Lane.
