Obituary: Bacon, George W., retired Dunstable Fire Chief

George W. Bacon, 85, Retired Dunstable Fire Chief and longtime resident of Dunstable, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Wilhelmina "Billie" Bacon with whom he enjoyed 58 years of marriage before her passing in 2010. He was the proud father of the late Richard C. Bacon before his passing in 1999. He was born in Lowell on September 12, 1932 and was a son of the late Clarence M. and Hazel (Wharley) Bacon. In addition to his position as a retired Fire Chief of the Dunstable Volunteer Fire Department, George had a full time career working for the family business - C.M. Bacon & Sons general contractors. The company was awarded many government contracts working on area forts, officer's quarters and armories.
