A 56-year-old New Bedford woman died Thursday morning after being pulled from an apartment fire Wednesday, despite efforts to revive her and the use of a drug that treats smoke inhalation, the fire chief said.
Firefighters found the woman, 56, unconscious on the floor of a second-floor bedroom when they arrived at 282 Tinkham St. at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday, said New Bedford Fire Chief Michael Gomes. She didn’t have a pulse when they arrived, Gomes said.
Paramedics attempted initial life support efforts on the sidewalk, but immediately transported her to St. Luke’s Hospital. In the ambulance, they performed defibrillation and advanced life support measures, but both efforts failed, Gomes said.
