Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a fire Friday at a three-decker on Sigel Street. Firefighters went to 10 Sigel St. just before 7 p.m. for reports of an air conditioner on fire on the first floor. When they arrived they found fire in a window and quickly extinguished the flames, according to Deputy Chief Martin Dyer. There were no injuries, he said. Residents waited outside Friday with belongings and pets as the Fire Investigation Unit worked. The deputy chief said the landlord made arrangements for the five residents on the first floor to stay somewhere else for the evening because of smoke damage to the apartment. The residents of the second and third floors were allowed to stay.
