With a lower price tag and better location for future growth, the Fire Station Building Committee recommends buying the former Pierce Gas Station on West Main Street to build a new station. The vacant property is located at 61 and 65 West Main St. The plan also calls for buying a small home at 10 Monroe St. The six-member committee unanimously chose the preferred site Tuesday morning after Stewart Roberts of Johnson Roberts Associates Inc., a town consultant, presented the cost to buy additional land around the fire station at 7 Pierce St. and 10 Church St. or the gas station.
