A firefighter with an open assault and battery case in Lowell District Court has been allowed to work for the Devens Fire Department, according to MassDevelopment. Former Ipswich Fire Chief Gregory Gagnon, 43, of Dracut, worked Tuesday, said Meg Delorier, chief of staff for the state agency, which oversees the former Army base. She didn't confirm whether Gagnon had been placed on leave in light of the charges. Delorier declined to comment further because it is a personnel matter. Gagnon has been with the Devens Fire Department since September 2018, she said. Fire Chief Joe LeBlanc was not available for comment Tuesday. Staff from his office referred requests for comment to MassDevelopment. Gagnon allegedly assaulted two minors known to him at his Dracut home on Dec. 21, according to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.
