A home in Marion was heavily damaged in a two alarm fire on Jan. 16 that took firefighters six hours to extinguish.
First calls about the fire at 498B Point Road came in at 3:34 p.m. Point Road was blocked off as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire. The Marion Fire Department called for mutual aid from Mattapoisett and Wareham Fire Departments.
The Marion Police, Massachusetts State Police fire investigation unit and the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services State Rehabilitation team also provided assistance.
No one was in the house, but a first responder was injured in responding to the fire, transported to the hospital, treated and released. Firefighters extinguished the fire, and cleared the scene at 9:28 p.m.
The fire investigation team was unable to determine the cause of the fire on Wednesday. They will return to Point Road on Friday to continue the investigation.
