Families across the country came together in Emmitsburg, Maryland to remember their fallen firefighter who died on duty.

“The holiday season is a time of the year that we associate with joy, expectation, and wonder. It is also a time where you hold nostalgia and fond memories,” said Ron Siarnicki, Executive Director.
People from across the country gathered at the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation in Emmitsburg for their annual Fire Hero Family Tree Lighting.
The ornaments that covered multiple trees showed many faces of those who lost their lives on the line of duty serving their community.
Songs were sung, bells were rung, as many came to remember. Linda Abriel, lost her husband in 2007.
