A malfunctioning wood burning stove caused a fire Sunday night, Dec. 9, that damaged a manufactured home on Thisitville Circle, according to the Maryland Fire Marshal’s Office.
Owners Gilbert and Tina Johnson discovered the fire about 10:57 p.m.
Goodwill Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at the one-story, metal-frame pole building. It took 30 firefighters about an hour to control the blaze.
Damages are estimated at $70,000 to the structure and $40,000 to the contents.
There was no smoke alarm present, and the residence does not have sprinklers, the fire marshal’s office said.
No injuries were reported.
