A fire at a Severna Park church Wednesday morning caused $125,000 in damage, county officials say.
Firefighters responded to a report of a fire at the Church of God at 233 Ritchie Highway at 7:56 a.m., the Anne Arundel County Fire Department wrote in a news release.
Responders found smoke coming from the roof of the church, the department said, and a fire originating from the side of the building.
The department said it took about 10 minutes to contain the fire — most of which was on the church’s first floor and in a crawl space.
Investigators ruled the cause of the fire was due to a faulty oil heater in the crawl space and deemed it accidental.
The fire caused $125,000 in damage, the department said. No one was injured.
