The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office says that a fire caused $10,000 in damages to a Bel Air home but that no one was displaced.
According to deputies, just before 1:00 p.m., 20 firefighters from the Bel Air and Fallston Fire Companies, responded to a blaze at a two story home on Cheshire Lane. No one was injured. A smoke alarm was present but it did not activate due to the fire starting and being contained to the outside of the home.
The fire took five minutes to control and it was discovered by the home's residents. The fire started in the back porch. The cause of the blaze was accidental and due to an electrical failure.
The fire also began after the owner used an electric smoker plugged into an exterior wall outlet.
