Allegany County will soon activate a new $8 million countywide fire and EMS radio system.
“This system will allow a more seamless and streamlined communication between our joint communications center, field operations units, including fire, EMS and police, and neighboring counties,” said Todd Bowman, public information officer for the Allegany County Department of Emergency Services.
Testing of the system will begin at month's end and continue into the first week of August before “going live," according to Roger Bennett, the department’s deputy director of operation.
“Allegany and Garrett counties have signed an agreement to become part of the Maryland First, 700 MHZ digital system,” said Bennett.
