A fire in Silver Spring displaced a family and caused about $30,000 in damages. Homeowners were cleaning up the damages after the blaze. Fire officials say just after 8 p.m. on June 5, about 45 firefighters responded to the 9900 block of Colesville Road. It is believed the fire started because of a light bulb that was too close to combustible materials. A passerby noticed the fire and alerted authorities.
