The government of Frederick County, Maryland has new plans for more than one million dollars in budgeting, after a local union rejected a contract offer.
County executive Jan Gardner announced Thursday morning three different project plans that will benefit the county fire and rescue services with $1.2 million reallocated.
The funds, which would have gone towards a contract with the career firefighters association, will now be used for a new 25 member recruiting class, an independent wage study, and step pay increase for firefighters.
“I still do want to make sure that we don't fall too far behind in how we pay our employees so I thought it was important to use some of the money that was in the budget to make sure we provided salary improvement to our firefighters," explained Frederick County Executive, Jan Gardner.
