Hagerstown firefighters quickly extinguished a house fire at 127 Buena Vista Ave. on Thursday afternoon. There was obvious damage to the outside of the home on the second level after the fire was reported at 4:17 p.m. Capt. Russell Daiello said at the scene that city fire marshals were investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters were initially told that people may have been trapped in the house when the fire broke out. But no one was found inside when firefighters searched it, Daiello said. No one was hurt. The American Red Cross was called to assist six adults and one child, according to Hagerstown Fire Marshal Doug DeHaven. Eight city fire units responded to the scene.
