Bay District firefighter laid to rest

A local volunteer firefighter was laid to rest by friends, family, and colleagues today, May 11, 2018. Russel Tarleton, 55, who served as a Life Member of the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department passed away peacefully at his home Monday, May 7 surrounded by family and friends. Tarleton joined the organization in 1980 and actively volunteered for over 25 years. He served as Lieutenant, Captain, Deputy Chief, and Assistant Chief during his service. Tarleton is survived by his wife April Mikeal Tarleton of California, son Travis Russell Tarleton of Mechanicsville, step-daughter Janice Rakes of California, sister Karen Tarleton Garner (John) of Drayden, and brothers Brian Joseph Tarleton (Marie) of St. Mary's City, Dale Gregory Tarleton (Patricia) of California, and Keith Anthony Tarleton (Keri) of Hollywood.
