Crews worked around the clock on Wednesday as they tried to prevent further damage caused by heavy rain on Route 180. Water from the Catoctin Creek covered the road, causing it to erode on Tuesday night Route 340 is being used as a detour. “I thought here we go again,” said neighbor Don Henson. Henson says a man even had to be rescued, when he lost control of his car on the flooded road. Officials say that man was clinging to a tree when firefighters found him around 9:30 p.m. Workers estimate that the gaping hole in the middle of the damaged road is roughly 8 to 10 feet deep and 150 feet wide.
