If you pick up the latest edition of the Frederick News Post, you'll see a photograph of a firefighter making rescues. There's a red hue from the nearby firetruck, and water is everywhere. In the center of the frame, there is a firefighter, with a child over his shoulder.
That is Derek White. "I don't feel like a hero," he laughed, as he spoke with WUSA9 outside the fire hall on Thursday afternoon. "I just did what we're supposed to do."
The rescues, captured in the photograph, took place on Tuesday night, as rain caused a flash flood in town. White said it all started when three cars got stuck in the water.
