There was some good news for first responders in a survey conducted this fall among candidates for state and federal offices by the Maryland State Firemen’s Association, and that was overwhelming support for their issues among those candidates who responded.
But the number of candidates responding was a bit low. Among the 28 candidates running for U.S. House seats from Maryland, seven returned their questionnaires, for a response rate of 25 percent as of this week, as compiled by the association.
Among U.S. Senate candidates, there have been no responses.
The response rate among candidates for the Maryland General Assembly was a little better, at about 35 percent for House and Senate candidates. Most candidates for the Washington County delegation did respond, however.
