A fire forced residents of a Princess Anne home out Saturday afternoon. Emergency officials were unable to give an exact number of residents who had lost their home in the fire, but several people lived at the apartment house at 11790 Beechwood Street. All got out safely. A resident ran around the block to alert firefighters to the fire around 4:30 p.m. "When we got there, there was heavy fire from the second story," said Kenny Walston, deputy chief of the Princess Anne Volunteer Fire Company. Firefighters from Crisfield, Mount Vernon, Deal Island and Allen came to help with the fire, but Walston said the house was ultimately a total loss. He estimated the damage was between $150,000 and $200,000. Tammy Meyer, a resident of the home, said when she first saw fire, she filled a coffee pot and poured water on it. She initially thought everything was fine, but she smelled fire and said she knew she had to get out.
