Police are investigating and firefighters are on the scene after an RV struck a propane tank, which caused an explosion and injured one person in Lusby on Friday. Though rumors initially spread on social media that the explosion felt by residents in Chesapeake Ranch Estates was caused by a plane crash, Capt. David Payne of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office confirmed there was no plane crash. Rather, there was an accident involving an RV, which rolled down a hill into the woods. At some point, the RV ran over a propane tank, leading to an explosion, Payne said in an email to The Calvert Recorder. Payne said one person sustained minor injuries. A sheriff's office Nixle alert sent at 5 p.m. said the "large fire" occurred in the area of Chisholm Trail and Sedalia Trail and police and firefighters were on the scene. The alert asked residents to avoid the area.
