Shortly after 9 AM Tuesday morning, a house fire broke out on Booth Street in Salisbury, right near Chipman Elementary. This intense blaze completely destroyed the house. The occupants were not home, so luckily no one was injured but unfortunately two dogs died at the scene. All of Salisbury’s stations were dispatched and the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department came to help. The Salisbury Fire Department tells 47 ABC that it took 30 minutes to get the fire under control. And while this specific incident is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, we’re told that these types of fires are frequent this time of year. Deputy Chief Darrin Scott says, “This time of year people are fighting to make ends meet and finding any way to heat homes, it’s uncertain if that’s the cause of this fire at this time, but we do see potential of this type of weather like this that we see these types of fires.”
