A fire Saturday morning, Jan. 12 at Economy Storage in Waldorf resulted in $750,000, with most of the loss being the contents of 42 storage units that sustained damage, state officials reported.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office reported three firefighters were injured battling the two-alarm blaze off Leonardtown Road. The injuries to all three were minor. Two of the injured were transported to local hospitals and one was treated on the scene.
“The fire, which was discovered by a patron of a nearby business, began in the interior of one of the storage units,” the fire marshal’s office reported. The fire remains under investigation.”
A total of 75 firefighters were dispatched to the scene. Portions of Leonardtown Road were closed for about two hours as firefighters brought the blaze under control.
