Matthew Landfair will stand before a judge Thursday, charged with one count of first degree arson. He's a 36-year-old DeWitt Fire Department trainee. Police believe he intentionally started a fire at the Alana Woods Apartment Complex where he lived on July 14. The fire destroyed 12 units and left 23 people without a home. The hearing was delayed so Landfair could undergo psychological tests to make sure he was competent to stand trial. "Obviously this is going to be prosecuted quite vigorously, so I've got to explore all the options available to me. I want to make sure I know everything--not only about the alleged crime itself, but get to know as much about my client and all there is to know. Since this is happened, we've had several conversations. I just want to make sure I overturn all stones and see what's there," said Michael Hocking, Landfair's attorney.
