A newly-formed EMS and fire department just got a $2,500 grant that will help them save lives. The Cedar Area Fire and Rescue Department received a "Little Annie" CPR mannequin and an AED from the National Auto Dealers Association. Fox Motors in Traverse City presented the grant. The mannequin is a first for the department, which plans to use these tools to train their staff --things they previously had to borrow from other Leelanau County departments. “It keeps the guys up to speed and where they need to be,” said Cedar Area Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Dan Petroskey. “It keeps them proficient in doing CPR and applying an AED to a patient that does need the AED.” The department is considering using the AEDs to train the public as well.
