A massive fire destroyed a building that houses a Northern Michigan charity. Love in the Name of Christ, or Love, INC., had spent the last four years working out of the building on Sunnyside Drive in Cadillac. No one was hurt in the fire that started around 11:30 Wednesday night, but the building is now destroyed. The two departments that responded to the fire say when they arrived, flames were shooting through the roof. 9&10 News’ David Lyden was on scene, where he spoke to one of the members of the Love, INC. board about the loss. “Just sickness in the heart,” Love, INC. board member, Pastor Tom Ball explained. A devastating loss for the Love, INC. ministry --flames destroying their building. “Disbelief,” Ball said. “We worked so hard to move into this building and, little by little, make upgrades. The most important thing is we do a lot of ministry out of this building. A lot of volunteers are coordinated out of this building and we're in the middle. This is a big kick in the teeth.” They've helped thousands of people in need from all walks of life in the Wexford and Osceola County areas, and now they will be on the receiving end. “It's kind of like my wife said --we've helped people for a lot of years in this area, and I guess maybe now it's the turn of a lot of folks to help us get ourselves back on our feet so we can continue with the ministry we've been doing,” said Ball. The ministry will move forward with what's carried them for so many years: faith, hope and trust in God.
