Firefighters, Lansing Police and Lansing Township officers are on the scene of a two car accident on I-496 near the Waverly Road exit. One person is dead after a two-car accident on westbound I-496 just east of Waverly Rd., according to Lansing Twp. Police Chief Kay Hoffman... The accident happened around 1:11 p.m. Tuesday. Chief Hoffman says a car traveling eastbound crossed the median and hit another vehicle that was traveling westbound head-on. The driver of the eastbound car died on scene.Both westbound lanes and one eastbound lane are shut down as emergency crews work on the scene. One vehicle rolled over and left the road. A second car was heavily damaged. At this time the officers on the scene will confirm that the accident is “serious” but give no more details.
